Nyoma serves as the primary artery for the expanded Vibrant Villages Programme Phase II, connecting 122 remote hamlets across Changthang, and is integrated with the Ladakh Green Energy Corridor to bring reliable 4G/5G connectivity and power stability to the region.

Improved air access is expected to stabilize the local population, turning the region's 'first villages' along the border into anchors of sovereign presence rather than points of outmigration.

Nyoma opens previously restricted areas around the Indus River and high-altitude lakes including Chushul and Rezang La. Winter tourist arrivals in the linked Zanskar Valley surged 120% following completion of the NPD road in 2025-26, and Nyoma is projected to drive a similar 150% surge for eastern Ladakh.

A network of over 500 newly funded local homestays is being built out around the airfield, creating a year-round winter economy for surrounding communities.

Consolidated infrastructure spend on Nyoma-Changthang has crossed ₹5,000 crore since 2019, bringing high-altitude logistics parity with regional counterparts and revitalizing border populations that anchor national presence in the sector.
